Hema Malini R Chakravarty was born on 16th october 1948 in ammankudi, tamil nadu, india. They is often known as the dream girl. Her parents are v.S.R.Chakravarty & jaya. They studied in chennai.
Hema malini, who is a widely known classical dancer, trained her daughters in dance & has performed with them.
They married actor dharamendra in 1980. The actor was married with children, including widely known actors bobby deol & sunny deol. As they could not receive a divorce from his spouse, the couple converted to islam & got married. Her name on conversion to islam is aisha. They have daughters, esha & ahana. Esha deol is & a bollywood actress.
Currently, they continues to act in movies & has worked as a chairperson for the national film development corporation. They is also part of politics & is a member of the bharatiya janata party. They has been honoured with the padma shri.
Dream girl
Hema malini was first seen on the huge screen in a telugu film pandava vanavasam (1961) as a bharatnatyam dancer. Though her preliminary attempts at getting roles failed, they got her break with sapno ka saudagar (1968) with raj kapoor. Her movies with dev anand like johnny mera naam (1970) & tere mere sapne (1971) helped add to her star appeal.
Her dual role in seeta aur geeta won her the filmfare best actress award. The film starred sanjeev kumar & dharamendra both of whom proposed to her. Her role in sholay (1975) as the horse cart driving basanti won lots of praise.
They began the 80s with do aur do paanch with shashi kapoor. In satte pe satta (1982), they played a nurse who marries amitabh bachchan's character & brings order in the life of seven brothers.
In 1999, the actress was acknowledged for her work with a filmfare lifetime achievement award.
They began to be seen more often on the screen after hey ram (2000). In baghban (2003), they & amitabh bachchan played an elderly couple who are ill treated by their children.
